Blizzard!

I love weather events! I hope everyone enjoyed the blizzard. I was in heaven. Here are some pics of the fun here at 7100. The dog - not so much. She seemed to be very confused about where her legs might be. She hopped around like a bunny and then stood by the door looking pathetic. She also could not figure out how to pee as there was no squatting room. It was all very entertaining.

Death of an iBook

This is what happens when you choose to save the cupcake and not the computer. Will was traveling up the steps double fisted when he tripped. He said he actually thought the following - "Can't drop the cupcake". Even the neoprene sleeve could not save the screen of his iBook from being destroyed. Note how the pattern on the screen even resembles a blood spatter. The cupcake was intact but ended up in the garbage, because it became the $600. cupcake and that is far too much to ask from a store bought pastry. On the upside, I get the battery from dead iBook for my iBook, so we don't have to spend $100 one that I needed. Not a great upside, but it's something.

for me?

My friend Margaret gave me this amazing gift basket (from Poeme) as a thank you for letting her use the Skillman Design showroom for her fundraiser. I resisted opening it up for as long as I could. When I decided I was going to open it, I got a cup of coffee and settled in and it felt like Christmas morning. Notecards! Post Its! (Jonathan Adler post its even)! Coasters! Notebooks! So. Much. Fun. I do not think Margaret even knows that I am nuts about paper products. Now I have the empty cute little orange suitcase with a bright yellow handle. I'm thinking I might use it to wrap up a gift for someone else . . .

calling all Star Wars fans

Not even sure what to say or think about this latest Etsy find. Hmmmm. It is only $7.95. For $7.95 this would be fun just to have around. They also have a giant knit breast. Sorry Amo, no uterus. Get 'em here.

Tres Bon

I had to share this recent discovery in culinary happiness. If you value warm, gooey chocolate surrounded in light, flaky crust then you should add these to your Trader Joe's grocery list. They are really fun because you set them out before going to bed and they are just unimpressive logs of dough (about the size of a hoho). BUT - in the morning you awake to impressive gigantic puffs of dough. 20-25 minutes in the oven and voila - chocolate yummy goodness. And then, if you live at our house, you argue pointlessly with your husband about the proper pronunciation of the word "croissant". It should be noted that ONE of us took 4 years of French. En plus j'ai toujours raison.

Craftastic New Year

It has been a busy and fun holiday season. We have been a lot more social than usual. That has been fun, but we really like to stay home and hang out too. Getting to spend the last two weeks with Lina has been fantastic. We have seemingly endless game nights and she and I have become super crafty. We've made thumbprint animals, gift tags, clay creations, multitudes of drawings, fashion designs and shrinky dink jewelry all in the past few weeks. I have rediscovered my love of creating stuff. That is pretty cool. I recently saw pictures of Martha Stewart's actual craft room, in her actual house. It is unbelievable and I am positively green with envy. I have no doubt that I could create the worlds most super fantastic crafts if I had a craft room like that. For now, it is the dining room table and bins of unorganized supplies. It is definitely a New Year's resolution to organize the craft supplies. I think that's it really. No resolve to exercise more, drink more water, remember to send birthday cards, be nicer to my mother, learn to meditate, keep my dental appointments and never be late for anything. None of that for me in 2008. Just organized craft supplies. Okay.
